Advent Calendar

Hello Everyone!

I love Christmas. And the month leading up to it is filled with cooking, baking, decorating and getting into the mood. That is: fill the house with candles and festive music.

I am a list girl, I told you that before. But I’m also a countdown girl. I love counting down to holidays, nights out, … and Christmas!
About fifteen years ago, I bought a reusable Advent Calendar on one of my trips to Aachen, Germany. One with small pockets you had to fill with sweets or tiny presents. I used it until two years ago when I treated myself to a Playmobil Advent Calendar.
Having spent so much time in my second home the last year (read: Pinterest), I thought I’d make one myself this year.

So I got creative, combined a few crafts and came up with this idea. All I need to do in pin (no pun intended) one hat on the required spot every day and… CHRISTMAS!

Let me know what you think.

The board

  • Iron the fabric.
  • Put the foam on the fabric and cut the fabric 10 cm away from the foam.
  • Attach the fabric to the foam with golden drawing pins, making sure you work one side at a time and gently pull the fabric.
  • Turn the board over and decorate around the edge with golden drawing pins at 10 distance from one another.
  • Write numbers from 1 to 24 on the circle stickers.
  • Make a sticker with a 1 and one with a 2.
  • Cut around the stickers and place the numbers on the board to see where you’ll be putting the hats (put the stickers 1 and 2 at the bottom with the Christmassy label).
  • When you are satisfied, stick the stickers in place.
  • All you have to do now is pin a small hat on the required number from 1 till 24 December.
  • On Christmas Day, you pin the large hat on the label
