Hello Everyone!

This time it is Annabel Duck who takes the limelight.

In this post, I’ll be showing you how to make her. The description for her clothes will follow in another one.

Annabel Duck

Leg (make 2)

  • Begin at the lower edge and use colour for the shoe.
  • Cast on 12 sts.
  • K 1 row.
  • K1, inc Kwise into 10 sts, K1 (22 sts).
  • G-st rows.
  • Break off colour for the shoe, leaving a long enough end to close up, and join colour for the stocking.
  • St-st 2 rows beginning with a K row.
  • K5, K2tog x6, K5 (16 sts).
  • St-st 10 rows.
  • Cast off all sts, leaving a long enough end to close up.
  • Close the leg and shoe with the mattress stich.

Shoe strip (make 2)

  • Using colour of the shoes, cast on 15 sts, making sure you have a longish thread left for attaching the strip to the shoe.
  • Cast off, again making sure you have a longish thread left for attaching the strip to the shoe.

Beak

  • Using colour for the beak, cast on 10 st.
  • P 1 row.
  • (K1, M1) x4, K2, (M1, K1) x 4.
  • St-st 2 rows, beginning with a P row.
  • Put first 5 and last 4 sts on a spare needle.
  • Leave the middle 9 sts on the needle.
  • Make sure the sts are on the needles the right way, so you can knit them on the face.

Body and head

  • Begin at the lower edge and use colour for the stocking.
  • Cast on 33 sts.
  • St-st 6 rows beginning with a K row.
  • Break off colour for the stocking, leaving a long enough end to close up, and join colour for the jumper.
  • St-st 8 rows.
  • K5, K2tog x4, K7, K2tog x4, K5 (25 sts).
  • St-st 3 rows.
  • Break off colour for the jumper, leaving a long enough end to close up, and join colour for the skin.
  • St-st 2 rows.
  • K2, (M1, K3) x7, M1, K2 (33 sts).
  • St-st 3 rows.

Joining the beak (go to this post for the pictures)

  • K12, over the next 9 sts K each st of the face and each st of the lower lip together as one, K12.
  • P12, over the next 9 sts P each st of the face and each st of the upper lip together as one, P12.

Rest of the head

  • St-st 10 rows.
  • (K2, K2tog) x8, K1 (25 sts).
  • P 1 row.
  • (K1, K2tog) x 8, K1 (17 sts).
  • P1, P2tog x7, P2.

Arms (make 2)

  • Begin at the upper part using colour for the jumper.
  • Cast on 12 sts.
  • St-st 12 rows beginning with a K row.
  • Break off colour for the jumper, leaving a long enough end to close up, and join colour for the skin.
  • St-st 4 rows.
  • K1, K2tog x5, K1 (7sts).
